World No Tobacco Day: call for plain packaging in Switzerland

Unmasking the Appeal

Unmasking the Appeal

To mark WHO World No Tobacco Day, Transparency and Truth is publishing a press release, fact sheet and visuals to reveal the tobacco industry's insidious tactics. Its aim? To make the packaging of its products ever more attractive, particularly to young people.

In Switzerland, the pack remains an advertising tool widely used by tobacco companies. While the effectiveness of the plain packaging (without logo, containing a broad graphic warning, with typography and plain, unattractive colours) in reducing consumption has been demonstrated internationally, this measure has still not been adopted in our country.

Can you identify the Swiss pack from packets sold in France, the Netherlands, Belgium and the UK?

It's time for public health and the general interest to take precedence over the interests of this deadly industry!
